Reporter | CHANG,YEN-SHUO, WEI,LIN-YEN
Chung Cheng University released a survey of public security satisfaction last year. Unexpectedly, the overall public security and the satisfaction of the police in maintaining public security and the security of the residential community have declined. According to the analysis of scholars, it is related to the police killing in Tainan, the shootings in Xuejia District, the "88 Guild Hall" in Taipei, and the Taiwan version of Cambodia. The police department responded, modestly reviewed and made efforts to improve public security.
Last August, a police killing case broke out in Tainan, which shocked the society, followed by the 88 gun shooting case of Xuejia, which provoked public rights, and even the 88 Guild Hall police discipline scandal broke out in Taipei. Chung Cheng University announced its annual public security satisfaction, which was worse than last year. Jui-Lung Cheng, professor of the Department of Criminology at Chung Cheng University, said: "Sometimes these increases and decreases have an impact on police satisfaction. On this side, it is a decline, so this is a warning."
The press conference listed a lot of satisfaction data. The perception of public security around the house was as high as 83.1%, and the feeling of security around the house was very safe. In addition, it was affirmed that the police maintained public security was as high as 73.1%, but the overall public security was only 39.6%. Wang Boqi, an Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Justice of Ming Chuan University, said, "The general public will have some fear of being killed. If the public security situation is good or not, the public will immediately think that there may be some major events in the past two days, whether it is a shooting case or a case in all aspects, we will call such a thing as the fresh effect."
Scholars' analysis is related to the public security incidents in recent years, but the number is getting lower and lower. The overall public security satisfaction increased from 66.5% in 2019 to 61.6% in the next year, leaving 50% in 2021 and less than 40% last year. You Yulan, a legislator of the Kuomintang, said: "The reason why the police's ability to maintain public order has not collapsed is that everyone still loves the police. For the police, we are seeking fish from scratch, which will make them run for their lives." The legislator helped the police to calm down. Looking at the government's public order last year, 54.3% of them are dissatisfied with strengthening the safety net; 55.3% were satisfied with strong drug control; About 53.3% are dissatisfied with the prevention of fraud, which is commendable.
Foreign people: "Yes, it's very safe. Even if you walk outside at night, it's very safe, unlike the United States." Taiwan people: "It's not very good! (How to say?) Because the news has always reported murders and so on." In fact, according to the statistics of foreign websites, the first place of the security country in 2023 is Qatar, followed by the United Arab Emirates, and the third place is Taiwan. Although it is internationally recognized, How to regain the confidence of the Chinese people and test the wisdom of the government next year.
