Designed to provide students with an interdisciplinary curriculum spanning across fields of criminal justice, social work and security management, the Department of Security Management and Social Work was founded in 2007 and the graduate program was established in 2012.

The Department of Security Management and Social Work is the largest department in the College of Social Science in Ming Chuan University, with over 400 students enrolled this major. Class sizes range from 20 to 50 students, which encourages frequent and meaningful faculty-student interaction. Graduates choose from a wide variety of professional paths, including public service careers in the police departments, correctional facilities, courts, and government agencies, and private sector careers in consulting, security management, investigative work, etc.
