MCU Criminal Justice Grad, LIN, WAN-JHEN, Passed Government Senior Exam for Social Workers 2019/10/22

The Ming Chuan University Department of Criminal Justice is the first such department in the R.O.C. to be certified as social work-related department of criminal justice by the Ministry of Examination. Student Lin, Wan-Jhen, who graduated in June 2019, took the national civil service exam in July, seeking to quality as a Social Worker through the 2019 Second Senior Professional and Technical Examinations for Social Workers.

The exam results, posted on September 25 by the Ministry of Examination, R.O.C., showed that Ms. Lin passed the examination, becoming the first MCU graduate to pass the Senior Professional Exam for Social Workers immediately after graduation.

Ms. Lin stated that from the beginning of her first year at MCU, she was exposed to social work in one of her courses. Fortunately, she met Assistant Professor Tai, Shih-Mei, who is well-experienced and well-known in social work practice, and increased her interest in the judicial social work module. She thanked the Department of Criminal Justice Chair and Professor, Huang, Fu-Yuan, and all the faculty members for their efforts to obtain the department's qualifying certification for students. Through faculty efforts to develop a complete social work curriculum and internship system, students have the opportunity to participate in this social worker professional examination. Ms. Lin expressed appreciation to the social work faculty; with their rich practical experiences, they have laid a good learning foundation for students from the first to the final year of study.

Currently, Lin, Wan-Jhen is a first-year graduate student in the MCU Criminal Justice master's program. She noted that although preparing for the exam was very stressful and nerve-wracking, in addition to the support of family and friends, Assistant Professor Tai arranged an exam sprint class at the last minute to assist those in the judicial social work module. Classmates worked together to sort out the different exam priorities for each subject, increase the number of practice questions from previous exams and deepen their review of key points. Ms. Lin's example encourages underclassmen to bravely take on the challenge, believe in themselves, and study well in the Department of Criminal Justice. As long as they complete the courses and internships according to the department's plan, they can not only take the senior professional examination for social workers in the future, but can also pass it!
