Educational Support Facilities
Library
The current combined collection
of the library includes over 430,000 books, 1,600 periodicals,
1,600 audio/visual materials and 636 microfilm bases. Seventy-five
percent of the book collection is in Chinese. Annual growth
is approximately 27,000 volumes, with the collection focusing
on management, applied language, information science and
social science. In 1995, the Library introduced URICA Library
On-line Public Access System to upgrade efficiency. Users
now may access the library retrieval information, circulation
and personal loan records through this system. As a member
of the interlibrary cooperation in Taiwan, library users
are able to reserve and borrow items from other libraries
which are not available in the Ming Chuan University Library.
Computer Labs
Information Network Division was
established to develop, set up and maintain computing resources,
software systems, related training programs and communication
facilities for teaching, administration and research, the
division is additionally tasked with building up and maintaining
the integrated intercampus and international network, and
to develop computer-based intelligence systems.
The integrated intra-campus networks
connect all the buildings in each campus by using a high-speed
FDDI fiber network as backbones. High-speed T1 and T3 lines
are used to link to the regional network and to connect
the two campus networks, providing for telephone lines,
video teleconferencing, distance education and data communication.
The network reaches all departments, research offices, and
administrative units. In addition to 24-hr. on-campus log-in,
remote access is also available via multi-line terminal
servers on both campuses.
Telecommunications Facilities
A closed-circuit TV system was installed
at the college in 1986, providing audio-video programs in
all classrooms. Currently, its technical capacity encompasses
20 TV channels linked to our campus-wide closed circuit
TV system. Soon this system will be computerized to provide
remote control video-on-demand. This system also serves
as an electronic bulletin board and a part of the campus
security system.
MCU has also established distance-learning
classrooms. Through teaching exchange programs with various
domestic and international universities, there are multiple
course choices for students.
Language Labs
On Taipei and Taoyuan campuses we
have a total of 9 interactive multi-media language labs,
making it one of the largest such facilities in Southeast
Asia. We also have an AV Resource Room which features a
selection of audio and video tapes, and additional materials
on digital database with necessary equipment for individual
students to pursue further study using this material.

To improve students' practical professional
skills and knowledge, campus facilities include: Web-based
Electronic Commerce Research Center, Strategy and Decision
